An extremely brief history of Justin Bieber.

Justin Bieber was born on March 1, 1994. He was raised by a very young single mother, in a low income household. He taught himself to play instruments. His mom uploaded videos of him on youtube for his family to see. Videos were continuously uploaded, and Bieber soon developed fans, and stalkers. His agent was among one of them. He flew out to stratford and tracked Justin down. At 13 he started recording demos, and soon met Usher.

Hypothesis 1: He has an awesome fashion sense.</sup>

"After signing Bieber, Usher appointed one of his former assistants, Ryan Good, to be Bieber's road manager and stylist. Good, once nicknamed Bieber's "swagger coach", created a "streetwise look" for the singer which consisted of baseball caps, hoodies, dog chains and flashy sneakers."

Conclusion: Facbricated.

Hypothesis 2: He has cute mannerisms.

 "Amy Kaufman of The Los Angeles Times comments, "Though a product of a middle-class suburban upbringing in Stratford, Ontario, Bieber's manner of dress and speech ("Wassup man, how you doin'?" or "It's like, you know, whateva' ") suggest he's mimicking his favorite rappers."

Hypothesis 4: He has reached a certain level of unattainability.

In the same interview, Bieber talked about homosexuality, stating that “It’s everyone’s own decision to do that. It doesn’t affect me and shouldn't affect anyone else.”,^[78] with Rolling Stone commenting "It is not clear whether he intended to label homosexuality as a lifestyle choice."

Bieber's popularity has caused safety concerns. While promoting My World, Bieber was scheduled to appear at Long Island's Roosevelt Field Mall, but the performance had to be canceled.^[81] The event got out of control, and over 35 units from the Nassau County and Garden City police departments had to be summoned. Several fans received minor injuries. The police arrested an Island Records senior vice-president, James A. Roppo, reportedly for hindering the police's crowd control efforts by not sending a timely message on Twitter as instructed by the police.^[81

Why is Justin Bieber not real?

Justin Bieber is not real because he has become an icon/ symbol. He has faded from existance, and his only purpose is to have a certain image, in order to please the general public. That is never going to happen, since one of his songs was the most hated on youtube, not counting Rebecca Black.

As seen above, almost all of his lovable characteristics have been created by an omnipotent being; his agent.

He has also become a symbol of kitsch. Predecessors to Justin Bieber have included the Jonas Brothers, High School Musical and Hannah Montana/ Miley Cyrus. The kitsch has gone as far as creating Bieber wigs, band aids, nail polish, perfume, etc. The next item on the list seems to be Bieber hand sanitizer.

"The music video of "Baby" is currently ranked as the most viewed and most discussed YouTube video, and was the most disliked until being overtaken by Rebecca Black's song Friday.^"

Justin Bieber is a lie.

I am waiting for him, like Hannah Montana, to pull off his wig and start acting like a real person.

What celebrity doesn't get pissed off? He has had objects thrown at him, been stalked, etc.

In his interviews, he always gives completely neutral conclusions, in an attempt to not offend anyone. Does he not have an opinion? I do not see a point in him going to interviews at all if he is just going to dodge questions. He is neutral about sex before marriage, opposes abortions, but is neutral on the subject of abortions after rape, he is neutral about same sex marriages, and all he seems to know about the Canadian government is free health care when asked if he were to get American Citizenship.

I feel like I missed out on the whole Justin Bieber thing. I blinked, and suddenly my best friend stopped having panic attacks when listening to the Jonas Brothers and spent all her time complaining about Justin Bieber, while her girlfriend (who enjoys listening to slipknot, manson... ) seranades her with Justin Bieber.

Also, I do not dislike the song Baby. I saw it on Glee first and think that Sam makes a better Bieber tho! Sorry Biebs!

Media Issue- Employers Invading Facebook Privacy

While procrastinating on my homework, I came accross an article about employers demanding facebook login information from their employees. The second link shown contains a more extreme case where current employees were forced to surrender their facebook passwords and usernames, or face termination. The employers could freely read personal messages, not otherwise available to the general public. The first link shown lists possible pros and cons to the situation, but only deals with employers viewing content available to the public.

One of the main arguments in these articles is that this invasion of privacy may cause employers to favor candidates based on personal beleifs and choice of lifestyle. This could act as a distraction from good work ethic, experience and skills. Although this is true, I see a bigger problem that was not mentioned....

I think that this could also create a new method of identity theft/scamming. The employers being contacted are complete strangers. Most people would not even think about giving their bank account info to friends, and definitely not to a stranger. Our society is very reliant on technology. With access to a facebook account, someone could easily get your phone number, email, security questions.... (you get the idea.) There are many ads on job listing websites that warn against scams requesting SIN numbers, credit scores, credit card numbers, etc. Facebook may not be government regulated, or the key to your life savings, but it still contains YOUR personal information.

The "smart" candidates who would not even consider giving away such valuable personal information are the ones who will not benefit from this new screening process. I think that this will increase the odds of employers hiring people who make short sighted decisions, and are not up to date, in terms of social media. Facebook is a way for people to stay connected to others in their life. Though we must work to live, employers seem to be forgetting that work is NOT life.

A tip for employers: Vital information is encoded in the 127th tagged picture of the candidate. The brand of the alcoholic beverage sitting on the table in the background of the image should be the deciding factor when hiring a new employee.
